The Amazarkan lode gold deposit is located in the Chita Region close to the headstream of a river with the same name.

The deposit was discovered in 1965, with exploration and prospecting operations taking place in the period 1976–1979. The reserves of the deposit were calculated at 8.699 tonnes of gold under C2 Russian category, with the gold content in ore at 2.6 grams per tonne.

Russia’s SakhaInvest, which was later renamed to Yakutia Gold, had started operations at the deposit in 2006.

The Amazarkan deposit spans for about 10 square kilometers. According to the company’s data, the deposits reserves amounted to 19.8 tonnes of gold in 2008.

The deposit belongs to gold-sulphide-quartz formation with low content of sulphides in ore at about 8%–12%. Average gold content in sulphide ore amounts to about 2.6 grams per tonne, and 4.7 grams of silver per tonne.

Geological and mining peculiarities of the deposit allow open-pit development applying heap leach technology.
